RYI popped a rear nipple a few weeks ago on my stock wheelset that has seen around 6000kms. So I figured it was time to get a new pair of wheels. I ride quite a bit so durability is far more important than weight for this purchase. I ordered this wheelset and they promptly arrived around 10 days after. Solid solid solid. Very stiff and feels like this is a wheelset I can be confident in. The only bad thing is that the wheelset came very lightly padded. tldr:solid affordable wheelset. Packing could be better.
hinksMy second pair of these wheels. First pair have covered over a 2000 km including a frame wrecking crash, they still roll nice, are strong and a pleasure to use. Have them on both my audax bikes.
Easy to fit tyres too unlike other hand built wheels I've owned.
Mr beswetherickGreat wheels, so much better to have a hand built set on the bike. They are stiffer, stronger and give me more confidence to ride harder/faster. (75.6kph on a local short descent) The Mavic open braking surface is so much better than the stock rims, this adds to your confidence to push that bit harder. I weigh 90kg so need a well built wheel (and to cut down on the pies before anyone comments!) These are brilliant.
Mr HattonI acquired these wheels very promptly after ordering. They replaced a pair of 20 year old hand built wheels. The rear Mavic MA3 rim gave up the ghost just after Easter. My new Merlin built wheels were packed really well so there was little chance of damage on their journey here. Wheels look really good and more importantly they are performing superbly. The Shimano Ultegra 6800 freehub body is very quiet. I have ridden just over 400km over the last two weeks on them and they are a real pleasure to use. Well worth the money.
Oliver JamesAccept no substitute for Merlin handbuilts. I have tried others and you can really tell the difference. These are rock solid quality put together and they stay that way!

brownFantastic wheelset! Used these wheels to upgrade from stock wheels on my training bike. Wheels are true and were delivered in two days on standard free shipping.
The bearings on the hubs were well greased and adjusted perfectly out of the box.
I'm very impressed with the rims! The difference when braking compared to the stock Shimano WH010 these replaced is massive. I've never considered the effect on braking when changing rims so this has been a very pleasant surprise. The wheels look great on the bike.
