CoxNice and tidy looking brakes, plenty of room for mudguards and larger tyres. Good stopping power for long drop brakes. Would recommend.
HunterLighter and cheaper than Ultegra brakes. Excellent stopping power plus room for fenders if I ever want to add them. What's not to like?
Mr SissonThese are solid brakes. The quick release and quick adjustment etc don't seem quite as intuitive or robust as Shimano 105's for example, and they're not as easy to set up, but once they're installed they seem to work well.
Mr GouldGood quality finish, easy to fit and adjust. There is plenty of power on tap and even in damp conditions there is enough grunt to lock my wheels up without much effort.
As far as 'feel' is concerned, they are a little wooden but I suspect this is down to the supplied brake blocks.
Are these a good buy for the price? I would say yes. Four stars only because of the brake blocks but I am aware this is a subjective assessment.
KennyThese were bought to fit a new 'winter' bike, which needed long drop brake calipers to fit the frame I bought thus ensuring clearance for mudguards and/or larger tyres.
They work fine.... Standard dual pivot design... And on the scales, they weighed the same as the ultegra 6600 brakes they were effectively relaxing, which was a nice surprise.
A good price from Merlin makes for a good purchase!
Mr learyI replaced my tired old shimano long reaches with these and they feel great. Even though I have gone down in price, they feel like an upgrade. Highly recommend if you need long reach callipers. Look great too. Received within 2 days
