Blackburn Countdown 1600 High Lumens Digital Gauge Front RC Light

The Blackburn Countdown 1600 front light helps you enjoy Mountain Biking at night with a powerful high-lumen light and the added security of an easy to read back-lit display that tells you exactly how many minutes of light remain in each of the 6 power modes available.

This versatile front light provides a range of modes suited to the type of riding you do – there’s a super-bright Blitz mode for off-road single-track riding in deep dark forests, there’s High, Medium and Low modes to allow you to tailor the amount of light you need when riding on the road or in built up areas and there’s Pulse and Strobe modes to help attract the attention of other road users.

The Countdown 1600 front light is also waterproof and fully protected from dust and grit and comes with a handle bar mount that has been designed to be extremely steady and robust without taking up too much room on your bars. This powerful front bike light has a user-friendly charge time of 4 hours when charged via a Micro-USB 2.0 port and 8 hours via a Micro-USB 1.0 port.

Gerry WilliamsIf you want a light that is super bright, and has good battery life in all modes, you can't go past the Blackburn Countdown 1600. This thing is solid. Full anodised aluminium body, has an IP67 waterproof rating. The LCD screen lets you know how much light burntime you have left in each mode. It is a compact unit and not hard to remove from the bike so it doesnt get stolen, if you use it to commute at night. You can lock the keypad so if you have the light in a bag, it doesnt turn on if it gets bumped, which would be difficult, but you never know. It gives out good peripheral light, and not just a concentrated central beam. One thing to be careful of is to not aim it at other road users, it will blind them. Its a great choice as far as I'm concerned. The mount is solid and makes allowance for a wide variety of handlebar widths. If you are going to use it on multiple bikes, just get an additional mount which is available as a spare part. The reviews about this light on various websites dont really do it justice. I think its brilliant and a good alternative to the more expensive Cateye Volt 1700 which has far less features than the Blackburn Countdown 1600. Its 100 lumens more , but thats about the only plus. With the Blackburn you get something that exceeds what I thought a self contained handlebar head light could offer. Gets an A++++ from me.
JedLong run time in lower settings. Strobe Mode snaps motorist heads when day dreaming. Unit goes on and off bike extremely easy with rail mount.
