Miss Pattinson Great upgrade to my previous wheels. Really pleased with them.
Mr Birkin I have 2 pairs of these wheels with RS4 centre lock hubs, so when I needed some 6 bolt wheels these were the only choice. Tape up easily and hold air well, the hubs are beautiful. Beware these come with tape and valves, I ordered those unnecessarily.
jose I went through several reviews and some of the people complained about the noise; I use them for road cycling and trust me they are kind of loud but there are some others even louder. I don't really know how slow you ride in order to pay attention to the sound of the wheels. For me these wheels are the best.
Zach W An excellent upgrade! Someone tried to steal my bike and messed my rear wheel up beyond it being fixable. The hub color (I chose orange) is great, the wheel is true, and the hope hub is plenty loud. Making the switch was incredibly easy. I had to make some minor adjustments to my brakes but that was expected to align things up. A great solid wheel for those everyday commutes where you need something to work day in and day out and not have to worry about it. If/when I get a new bike either these are coming with me or I will be buying a new set!
Richard Rolls well. Seems to have made a massive improvement on the ride of my bike. Freehub is a little noisy but serves nicely as a warning to others and reminds me to keep pedaling
Thomas Awesome wheel, very strong and reliable, a great upgrade
Samuel Beckett Buying a set of these for a winter/cross bike felt a bit like wearing my Sunday best to dig the garden. Yet having had the freehub on a set of big name OEM wheels fail in less than 150 miles Hope's reputation for durability and reliability won over concerns about the longevity of the shiny finish and the cost. Having put over 500 miles on them in wet and wild conditions the finish of both the hubs and rims is as good as the day they came out of the box. Fitting a set of Gatorskins was a decent workout for my thumbs. The tyres grip the tubeless ready beads tighter than Hans Gruber clings to the top of Nakatomi Plaza, necessitating breaking the seal a few times as you work the tyre over the rim (it's still manageable without resorting to tyre levers). This bodes well for running them tubeless but does raise a concern about removing the Gatorskins at the side of a wet, dark road should I puncture. Only time will tell. Some people don't like the sound a Hope freehub. Unless you do all your riding through libraries or in the grounds of a Trappist monastery I don't see what all the fuss is about. They're louder than say a Campagnolo freehub but get the attention of walkers a lot better than ringing a bell. Overall this a quality wheelset that wouldn't be out of place on your best bike.
Frank I have a Pro 4 on my mtb, but I just had to have it on my commuter. So nice! People know when you're behind them for sure. That sound, so lovely!
I put a Maxxis 40c Rambler Silkshield on there tubeless. Setup super easily with a little bit of soap and water.
So far, I'm a big fan!
Mr C Great product from a great UK company - great value for money as well. Usual good service from Merlin to boot.
Mr beamish The hubs are a love or hate. Simple to fix. Never had any trouble with them plus the new rims are tuff. A bit tight for conti grand prix but gravel kings work fine. Buy from and support a uk company.
Dennis Fantastic quality as usual from hope. Spins up super quick, stable and taught for excellent power transfer. Holds speed well. Excellent service from Merlin too!
Dennis Incredible wheels. Taught, well built- ignore the weight. These wheels spin up super quick. Wide rim adds stability and holds high speed well. Highly recommended!
Richard The stock rear hub on my CX bike was goosed. Unfortunately, the part I needed was discontinued so used the opportunity to upgrade my wheelset to these beauties.
If like me you need six-bolt disc wheelset that can accompany the larger tyres for cyclocross, then I couldn't recommend this wheelset enough. These wheels are a fantastic improvement! The bike is so much faster now, and the ride feels super smooth.
The understated look of the 20FIVE rim accompanied with a red bling Pro4 hub just looks awesome!
I read comments on the internet that the noise from freewheeling on hope hubs discouraged people from buying them. It's not as loud as some folk make out. I guess it's down to taste, but I love the sound they make, a reassuring solid click.
Hope has a new fan of their products. Just awesome!
Guy Nice looking back wheel with tidy welded rim and bearings that will last for ages. Relatively light compared to the cheaper wheel it replaced. Washer supplied to allow use with 10 speed xt cassette on my hybrid and two sets of end caps for QR and 12mm. Only complaint is pointless 10mm velox rim tape. It didn't cover eyelets and I punctured as a result, 30 miles from home on first ride. 20mm tape sorted this. I'd order some when buying wheel to save yourself the trouble. Hence 4 stars. Otherwise great quality wheel.
Mr O'Brien I run hope wheels (plus a lot of their other components) on my downhill, all-mountain, dirt jump and cross bike. The reason I prefer to run hope stuff is because in my experience, you just can't fault their designs, strength and reliability. I don`t get too hung up about weight but the products have always felt lightweight enough for me. If you`re a weight weenie though you might differ. Also I like the fact I'm supporting a British made company which is obviously a dying breed.
Newman Gotta love 'em. Feels like a bomb proof set of wheels. The included rim tape (velox) was too much for Wtb Nano TCS to fit.
