Mr LeeThe lower gear makes it very easy to attach panniers and add additional gear on the top platform. Simple to attach and adjust, and has an attachment for a rear bolt-attached dynamo light. Served me very well for touring and commuting. However, it is quite bulky and heavy - I have since switched to a lighter and smaller rack (Tortec Velocity) since I do not carry that much gear. If you're looking to carry loads of stuff, this is a good buy.

Mr CrosbyI was looking for a strong rear rack for my 29er cycle, I already have one but was unhappy about the support for the bags offer with it.. I did a Lot of online searching and found The Tortec Expedition on sale at Merlin Cycles for a whooping £24 quid, so Hit the buy button.. I got my new rear rack within days and the serivee for Merlin was great.. quick and painless ... Now to the rack.. The rear Tortec rack Is very trong and fits my 29 bike very well (cube) I realy like the textured surface on the paint, The rack has two places to mount my bags in the High or Low position. This is great for those who use the bike for on and offroad travel (me) meaning I can alter the center of gravity to suit the ride surface, the bags no longer bounce about staying well fixed to my rack (altura bags) and when set high on the rack dont offten catch on heather when on some single tracks on moors.. All in all the Tortec Rack seems strong, well contructed and finished in a way that seems it will last in rough riding... well worth more in my eyes but a bargin at Merlin Cycyes :)
RoseThis is a wonderful rack. It is well made and feels incredibly robust. It has separate pannier bars, meaning that you can simultaneously use both a back basket and two panniers - a rare and useful combination. It also has a space to mount a rear light or reflector. I have greatly enjoyed using it for commuting and am looking forward to using it to carry camping equipment on longer rides.

It was easy to fit after I bought a seat clamp with eyelets, as there were none on the seat stays. I'm really pleased with it. I would have swapped it for mine but it wouldn't fit over the disc brakes.

Excellent service from Merlin too! I'm in the USA, and placed my order on an early Friday morning. It was at my door on Monday-- clear across the "pond" for less shipping than I usually get charged for slower local deliveries. I couldn't ask for better than that!
Mr MacDonaldGood price, fast delivery and no parts missing. The rack itself is well made and has a decent light mount plate at rear. Very easy to fit to bike and sits a little higher which means plenty of clearance if you use big tyres and full mudguards as I do.
Mr RidehalghLooks to be a sturdy rack, with Aluminium construction including the fixing bars - often these can be 'stainless' on other racks, and are the first bits to rust.
There is no top plate to act as a mudgurad - which can be a requirement depending on the luggage you use.
