Merlin Malt G2 Claris Gravel Bike - 2024
The Merlin Malt G2 Claris is our new entry level gravel bike. The third generation of our versatile gravel bike range features tweaked geometry, offering more comfort and stability as well as a more inclusive sizing range. The Merlin Malt G2 Claris can handle a wide variety of terrain including muddy trails, gravel tracks and green lanes. This flexibility allows you to combine roads with a wide variety of other more challenging forms of terrain. Your adventures are no longer limited by your style of bike, open up flexibility in your rides and enjoy the pleasure and challenges which mixed terrain rides can offer.
The Merlin Malt G2 Claris features a 6061 Aluminium frame with 12mm thru-axles front and rear. Thru-axles ensure the connection between wheels and frameset is secure and solid, disc brakes are always perfectly aligned and steering precision is enhanced due to the wheel hubs and frameset essentially becoming one unit. The Malt G2 features flat-mounts for the disc brakes, giving a cleaner, less cluttered look.
The revised geometry across the Merlin gravel bike range enhances comfort and confidence to inspire all-day-rides, commute to the office or filthy gravel track action, depending on your plans for the day. The G2 Claris's carbon fork reduces vibrations and smooths out the feel of whatever surfaces you are riding. Tektro cable activated disc brakes offer consistant, reliable braking performance in all conditions. Shimano Claris 8 speed components offer solid performance and dependable precise shifting, the low ratio gearing will inspire you to tackle the toughest terrain with relative ease or take on big hills with style. This frame can fit up to a 40mm tyre.

Mr IllanaLove my new bike. Ridden to and from work every day since I received it. Did a lot of research and decided on the G2 because it comes from a reputable British based company and offered exceptional value for money.
SandraSuperb bike, very happy with this purchase - solid quality, sleek design, a great ride on both road and rougher terrain. Delivered as expected within a couple of weeks when most big suppliers are out of stock - great service.
Mr HynesBought this bike as a winter / commuter . I have now ridden this bike for 4 x 30 mile runs and am very pleased with it. In terms of looks it is rugged and solid, and I particularly like the discreet colour scheme which allows you to fade away into the background. It is heavier than a carbon road bike (obvious I know) yet not overly that you can’t produce some great speed. The Shimano Claris gearing is faultless allowing for smooth and consistent gear changing when you need it. The wheels are solid and as a first time disc brake user I am mightily impressed with the stopping power in both dry and wet conditions. The on bike position is comfortable and you almost forget you are on a gravel bike and not on a road bike. In terms of value for money this a very well specced bike for the money, it guarantees comfort and reliability and enjoyable riding. Overall I can’t find a fault for this bike and am looking forward to utilising the flexibility it allows in tackling canal tow paths and gravel tracks which I would normally avoid on my road bike. Glad I purchased this bike and would definitely recommend as a 5 star product.
PKGreat value and great looking bike. Service was as expected. Took a risk as new spec and no reviews before I ordered but am not disappointed. The one slight issue was the lack of instructions on receipt and need to adjust the gears quite a lot before properly able to ride. If you are experienced (I am not) I guess this would not be a major issue, but as I have less experience its taken a few YouTube videos before i was able to work out how to properly align the gears to. Not enough to detract from 5 stars though. Bike looks and rides like a dream (now) considering 595 price!
PhilReally pleased with this purchase. Feels great to ride and as always with Merlin excellent service. Only got positives to say. For the price I am chuffed
Mr OakleyReally happy with my new bike. Learning a lot about setting it up for my personal preferences and have already had a couple of excellent tours on mixed terrain.
Miss WatersI love my new bike! Arrived in perfect condition, really great to ride!
