Drew DThis tyre type is excellent for those wishing to avoid glass and other object punctures. I bought the folding version so that I could have a spare tyre in my bike box, just in case, when I travel. I now ride a high-end bike with carbon-profiled tubing that can't take my favourite pump, the Zefal HPX and I got tired of dealing with CO2 and ridiculous mini-pumps after punctures - I'm not racing for wins any more and it's about the freedom and simple love of riding, so I changed tyres to increase happiness. Even though these tyres aren't the most supple and grippy due to the puncture protection elements, the reduced hassle from almost never having a puncture is the whole point. The only time I've ever had a puncture while riding these tyres was when I was too preoccupied to order a new one and eventually the blue membrane was showing through the tread. This is one solitary puncture in three years (37,000mi/60,000km) of riding this tyre type and only due to my laziness than the tyre. Even though the tyre does not perform up to high-performance tyres in terms of grip, suppleness or rolling resistance, they far outlast them by 1,000s of mi/km in terms of longevity and they are actually not that far behind in performance as I have managed to take a good couple of pages of Strava KOMs on them. The one thing to note is that, at least with the wire bead, these tyres are a mongrel to get back on, so you really do want to maintain tyre pressure sufficient enough to avoid pinch flats and still keep an eye to avoid as much road debris as possible. This will keep them in good condition for longer and, if this is your aim, you will have a happier, less puncture-filled riding life.
Mr WilmottGood solid tyres. They roll well and seem to have good puncture resistance.
Mr TExcellent tyres, I’ve found them to be good in all weathers and rarely get punctures.
MarcoLove these tyres. Ride well on wet roads / corners. Good puncture resistance - a lot of flint down our way which can cause puncture hell, but the Durano Plus are well up for it.
Mrs ChungGreat puncture resistant tyres. Very difficult to get them on the wheel, but very light and I cycled 60 miles on the first ride without any issues.
