Ridley ASTR GRX Di2 Carbon Road Bike
The ASTR is ready for every fast ride or gravel race on every type of terrain. Just like the ASTR RS, the ASTR has a tyre clearance of up to 52 mm for increased grip and comfort. The ASTR performance geometry also requires more stability due to increasingly rough terrain combined with higher speeds. With the addition of the ASTR to the line-up, Ridley underscores its ambition to offer everyone the chance to own an ASTR: from ambitious amateurs to the most dedicated pros.
Aero-to-weight
Just like the ASTR RS, the ASTR is also built according to the 'aero-to-weight' principle. The aero-to-weight principle is the trend in the cycling peloton. Ridley no longer makes riders choose between aerodynamics and weight but combines the best of both worlds.
The only difference is that Ridley opt for a different carbon composition with a slight variation in weight, a round seatpost, and the Cirrus Pro Integrated gravel cockpit. After all, Ridley's goal is to give everyone the opportunity to purchase an ASTR: from the ambitious amateur to the most dedicated professional.
Diffuser fork crown
The fork crown has an integrated diffuser to reduce drag. The airflow passes more easily through fork crown while extra energy is added to it. The result is that the airflow passes the downtube more easily without pushing the bike back. At the same time there is less drag in the area behind the fork and headtube. Less resistance, more speed!
Tyre clearance up to 52 mm
The ASTR family has a tyre clearance of 52 mm on a 1x setup and 47 mm on a 2x setup. Ridley developers took this decision because the race terrain is getting rougher and riders feel the need to be armed for this. With this, we confirm our role as a trendsetter in the gravel segment.
Performance geometry
Modern performance geometry demands more stability due to increasingly rough terrain combined with higher speeds. A 71.5-degree headtube angle ensures you have faster handling. The Astr family features a steeper seat tube (74 degrees), improving climbing performance and power transfer.
The developers kept the chain stays as short as possible to accommodate tyres up to 52 mm without losing the feeling of responsiveness when accelerating. In addition, the bottom bracket is a bit lower. This ensures you have more stability at high speed. Finally, the head height is lower, so you sit more aerodynamically on the bike. In summary, this boils down to a modern competitive geometry, tailor-made for the ambitious gravel racer.
Removable front derailleur clamp
Ridley's innovative removable front derailleur clamp ensures a sleek, streamlined appearance when using a 1x setup. In collaboration with Wolf Tooth, they developed a custom chain guide and chain catcher perfectly tailored to fit our frames. To maintain a clean and polished look, we’ve also designed a specialized cover to seamlessly replace the clamp when it’s not in use.
Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH)
The universal derailleur hanger (UDH) is the new standard in the cycling world. Not only is this derailleur hanger compatible with all modern shifting groups, it also protects against derailleur breakage and chain drops. In mountain biking, UDH has long been very common, and Ridley is bringing the technology to other segments as well.
