This Shimano CN-HG701 chain is an 11-Speed model compatible with the Shimano Ultegra road groupset and the Shimano XT 11-Speed MTB groupset. This version features a user-friendly Quick-link for convenient fitting.

Silca Hot Melt Waxing Service
Our Silca Hot Melt Waxing Service apply's Silca wax directly to your new chain. Silca’s hot melt wax process is well-regarded by cyclists, especially for those seeking maximum efficiency and long-lasting lubrication in all riding conditions. Here’s how the service works and what it typically involves:
We follow Silca's instructions and get your chain ready for all conditions, so you don't have to. These are the sets we take.
Chain Cleaning:
Your chain is first removed from its original packaging and thoroughly cleaned to eliminate any factory grease using the Silca Strip Chip. This ensures the wax adheres properly to the chain for optimal performance.
Application of Hot Melt Wax:
Silca uses their proprietary Hot Melt Wax, which is a blend of paraffin wax, PTFE (Teflon), and other friction-reducing additives. The chain is submerged in the molten wax, which permeates all the internal surfaces of the chain’s links, pins, and rollers.
Wax Solidification:
After the chain is removed from the wax, it cools and the wax solidifies, creating a smooth and clean coating that reduces friction and dirt accumulation. The process leaves the chain with a dry, non-greasy feel, unlike traditional oil-based lubricants. We will manipulate the chain so it is ready to fit to your bike.
Further Information
This process requires our trained staff to remove the chain from the original packing. The chain will arrive coated in the Silca wax in our packing.
