Last week we caught up with World Ranked 6th, Team GB Pro BMX rider Ross Cullen! Let’s take you behind the scenes of our recent interview video (Click Here to Watch)…
Ross made his start as a young rider in Lancashire at Preston Pirates BMX Track and has gone on to compete worldwide, now hoping to secure a spot at Paris Olympics 2024. His passion for bikes has never wavered and he comes from a family of passionate cyclists. We caught up with him at Delamere Forest in Cheshire to see how his training is going and what exciting goals he has planned.
Ross currently trains in Manchester with his teammates on the bike whilst also incorporating strength training and expertise coaching to get him in the best possible shape for his next events. Regularly seen out on his gravel bike (Merlin Malt G2X), on a ride or commute when he isn’t blitzing the track. Ross showed us his technical riding skills as we hit the trails for some footage for his interview and promo videos.
Ross’ G2X Gravel Bike has some minor tweaks from standard spec featuring: tyres suited for muddy and challenging terrain (Pirelli Cinturato Gravel Tyres), Flat Pedals (for ease of commutes) and a fitted Front Mudguard for use throughout the winter months.
Whilst on the ride, Ross also put the Merlin Malt 725 to the test! Showing what a versatile steel hardtail bike is capable of, hitting some of Delamere’s best descents with ease. Ross told us he enjoys mountain biking with friends when time allows and it was clear to see his passion for all disciplines of riding.
Ross’ goals and aspirations are high for the future and it’s clear from his work ethic and passion for BMX he will do all in his power to achieve them. He focuses on achieving gains not just on the track but carefully considering his diet, gear, bike set up and recovery. Routine and consistency is key for Ross, from taking ice baths to giving his all on the squat rack he’ll be a force to reckon with in 2024!
As well as riding, his other passions include photography and video production which you can find on Instagram @rcvisuals and you can follow his main account @rosscullenn_
